I've recently become an elbow patch enthusiast. The style is typically reserved for mens clothing but womens blazers, sweaters, and button ups have started to take on the trend (I only assume this because the sweater and button up I bought have been made for a little boy and a grown man). There's a western hint to it. I looked up the origin of suede elbow patches and couldn't find a logical reason for their existence. Maybe someone had pointy elbows that cut through suit jackets. Who knows.

Hi, as far as I know coats with elbow patches are associated with teachers. I assume this is because they rub their elbows on school desks so much that they wear the coat elbows out and needed patching.
